LUFTHANSA Cargo is expanding its services to Asia over the summer, starting on March 30 until October 25.

The new services include two direct freighter flights each week to Beijing. For the first time, the cargo carrier's MD-11 Freighter service from Frankfurt to Shanghai and Seoul will be operated non-stop. Since January, Lufthansa Cargo has been serving Mexico City with a direct flight.

Two new destinations in China will be added, including Nanjing from end of March, which will be served five times a week from Frankfurt and from June, Shenyang, which will have a thrice-weekly service from Munich. Both routes will be operated with passenger aircraft, Airbus A340-300s each with an average cargo capacity of about 17 tonnes.

Lufthansa is also launching a service to Malabo in Equatorial Guinea. The passenger airline has taken over this destination from Swiss as part of its network optimisation. An Airbus A330-300 will serve Malabo three times a week from Frankfurt with an average cargo capacity of about 24 tonnes. The outbound flight to Malabo will continue on to Abuja, Nigeria. The return flight to Frankfurt from Abuja will include a stopover in Malabo.

This summer, Lufthansa Cargo will offer cargo capacity on non-stop passenger flights daily flights from Frankfurt to Seattle and Calgary on Airbus A330-300s.

Lufthansa Cargo is also boosting its sales activities in Europe. From March 30, it will be responsible for marketing the airfreight capacity of Jade Cargo International, its Sino-German cargo subsidiary, on routes from Europe to Asia. Frankfurt Airport and Tianjin Airport in China will be integrated into Jade Cargo International's route network from April 12, 2008.
