Fremantle volume falls month to month by 100 TEU to December
AUSTRALIA's Fremantle Port saw a busy month in December, with near-record numbers of containerised cargo crossing the docks in the last month of 2017.
Total containerised trade through the port in December was reported to total 67,714 TEU, an increase of more than seven per cent on the same month in 2016.
December's throughput was just more than 100 TEU less than the throughput for November 2017, which was a two-year high for the port.
Of the total, 4,885 TEU was coastal trade and 60,831 TEU was overseas trade.
On a month-to-month basis, December's exports at Freo saw a seven per cent over November to 33,335 TEU, with imports decreasing six per cent over the same period to 34,379 TEU, according to Australia's Daily Cargo News.
