DP World Kochi terminal saw box throughput rise to a record 500,000 TEU in 2017
DP World Kochi's International Container Transshipment Terminal handled a record 532,000 TEU in 2017, an increase of 11 per cent compared to 2016.
The Indian terminal also recorded its highest monthly throughput of 51,000 TEU in October.
Other highlights last year include the terminal's mainline service Galex scheduling its 200th call in Kochi on December 31. The service deploys vessels of up to 6,750 TEU.
Another mainline service NEMO that is operated by 7,350 TEU ships made its 300th call in December. The terminal also introduced new feeder services during 2017 and recorded a 30 per cent growth in transshipment volumes, reported The Hindu.
The year also saw the terminal receive direct vessel calls from Africa during the cashew season.
