Freighter collided with pilot ship in North sea, both damaged
General cargo ship ELKE W collided with reportedly, service/pilot ship WANDELAAR at around 1245 LT Jan 11 northwest of Ostend, Belgium, North sea. Collision took place in very poor visibility, in thick fog. Both ships sustained damages above waterline, both were allowed, after inspection, to sail under own power. ELKE W is en route from Southampton to Antwerp, as of 1530 UTC she was approaching Vissingen pilot station, but before proceeding to Antwerp she’s to undergo a survey. WANDELAAR sailed to Ostend, arriving there at around 1500 UTC.
