Delivery of B757 converted freighter lifts SF Airlines' fleet to 41 aircraft
SF Airlines has taken delivery of a Boeing 757-200 converted freighter, bringing the number of freighter aircraft in its fleet to 41. The carrier's fleet now comprises five B767s, 19 B757s and 17 B737s, up from 36 aircraft this time last year.
The airline also recently acquired two B747-400 freighters through an online auction. The aircraft were previously owned by insolvent German-Chinese carrier Jade Cargo and were bought for CNY160.8 million (US$24.77 million) and CNY162 million, reported London's Air Cargo News.
The purchase of the B747s will "support SF Airlines' further deployment of its domestic and international airline networks and accelerate [parent] SF Express' in-depth business development," the express carrier said.
The airline said it handled 400,000 tonnes of cargo and clocked up 50,000 flight hours in 2017.
