Smaller Passport Systems' cargo scanner for nuclear materials for airport use
PASSPORT Systems Inc has developed a new cargo screening system to automatically detect nuclear materials. The US government provided the majority of the funding for the development of the system, branded Smart Scan 3D.
A full-scale system is in operation in Boston to scan maritime containers, and Passport Systems says it has identified potential airport uses for the technology, reported IHS Jane's Airport Review.
However, the original Smart Scan 3D design is too bulky for deployment at airports for cargo screening. As a result, the company is now seeking parties interested in adapting a slimmed down version for scanning unit load dispensers or pallets.
