Lomar Shipping continues fleet renewal and sale of older box ships

LONDON's Lomar Shipping plans to sell its older containerships, after selling the 2,564-TEU Wuhan Trader.

The shipping line is currently engaged in a fleet renewal programme and took delivery of four newbuilds from Chinese shipyards last year.

"Our strategy to renew the fleet will continue over the next few years, with several further newly built vessels due for delivery in 2018 and onwards," the company told Singapore's Splash 24/7.

"This process will continue to reduce the overall age profile of our fleet and at the same time ensure we are able to offer the latest, high spec, fuel efficient vessels to our charterers in this ever growing feeder/feeder-max segment of the market that we have invested in."

Lomar operates a fleet of 80 ships that includes bulk carriers, product and chemical tankers and box ships.
