Seaspan to charter fourth 11,000 TEU SAVER newbuilding box ship to MSC
HONG KONG-based ship owner Seaspan Corporation has taken delivery of another 11,000 TEU newbuilding, the MSC Madhu B that is to start a bareboat charter with Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) for a period of 17 years.
MSC will acquire the containership at the end of the bareboat charter period for an undisclosed amount, reported World Maritime News, which pointed out that the shipowner and manager has now taken delivery of five vessels in 2017.
Built at Hanjin Subic shipyard in the Phillippines, MSC Madhu B is Seaspan's fourth 11,000 TEU SAVER design box ship in a series of five ships under bareboat charter to MSC. This September the ship owner received its third SAVER vessel, the MSC Nitya B.
Seaspan's managed fleet comprises 110 containerships and the operating fleet 89 vessels.
