CMA CGM ups Asia-E Africa rate US$250/TEU, adds northbound surcharge
FRENCH shipping giant CMA CGM has announced rate increases of US$250 per TEU from Asia to Mozambique, Madagascar and East Africa effective December 1 as well as a peak season surcharge for November 20.
The peak season surcharge of $100 per TEU will apply to northbound cargo from Beira, Mozambique to Asia including Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh.
The $250 per TEU "rate restoration" is will apply to all cargo including dry, reefer, OOG and breakbulk from Asia, which includes Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh to Beira, Maputo, Nacala and Tamatave on MOZEX service.
This increase will also apply to cargo from Asia to Mombasa, Dar Es Salaam and Zanzibar.
