Cosco, Wan Hai, PIL raise capacity on Asia-USWC service
COSCO, Wan Hai and Pacific International Lines (PIL) are increasing the size vessels deployed on their joint Asia-US west coast SEA/CP1/AC5 service throughout November and December.
The vessels of 8,000 and 9,000 TEU will be replaced by ships of 10,000 to 12,000 TEU. By the end of December, weekly capacity on the SEA/CP1/AC5 service will be 10,326 TEU, representing an increase of 15.7 per cent over the present figure of 8,925 TEU.
Deployment will include two of the thirteen 11,800-TEU newbuildings under construction at the Jiangsu Yangzijiang Xinfu shipyard: the Kota Pahlawan will be phased in on November 8 and Kota the Panjang on November 15. During November and December, Cosco will phase in the 9,469 TEU Cosco Hellas, and the 10,036 TEU CSCL Bohai Sea, to replace smaller vessels.
The port rotation of the joint service Xiamen, Guangzhou-Nansha, Hong Kong, Shenzhen-Yantian, Los Angeles and back to Xiamen.
