UK-flagged Ever Smart loses 42 boxes overboard - cause unknown
THE UK-flagged 7,030-TEU Ever Smart lost 42 containers on October 30, according to the British Marine Accident Investigation Branch MAIB, which launched an investigation.
The vessel was en route from Taipei to Los Angeles when containers were lost 700 nautical miles east of Japan in rough weather, reports Kiev's Maritime Bulletin, a marine casualty specialist.
According to AIS track, the Ever Smart did not reduce speed, but headed northeast for some time, and then returned to due east course.
