Incheon volume up 15.8 per cent to 781,000 TEU in biggest quarter ever
KOREA's Incheon Port Authority has posted a 15.8 per cent year-on-year third quarter increase in container throughput to 781,000 TEU.
This is the highest number in the quarterly container volume ever handled in Incheon port and has set a new record after achieving 700,000 TEU in the fourth quarter last year.
This year's cumulative container volume is 2.25 million TEU.
According to Incheon Port Authority, out of the total cargo volume in the third quarter of Incheon port, import cargo took up 50.4 per cent with 393,000 TEU, an increase of 45,000 TEU (12.9 per cent) from the same quarter in the previous year.
As for exports, they came in at 381,000 TEU, a 19.1 per cent year-on-year quarterly increase. Transshipment cargo was up 25 per cent to 61,000 TEU while coastal cargo stood at 1,907 TEU or 16.4 per cent.
China volume increased 19.6 per cent to 470,114 TEU, Thai volume was up 39.7 per cent to 77,163 TEU and volume to Thailand () increased by 39.7 per cent. Volume to Iran (11,821 TEU) experienced an increase in the volume since the establishment of the Middle Eastern Route service in June last year, showing a 94.9 per cent (5,756 TEU) increase.
