AUTHORITIES and local fishermen at the Vizhinjam port on the south west coast of India reportedly have reached an agreement over the weekend to end their blockade of the port and allowing concessionaire Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) to resume construction of a transshipment dock.

"A committee with participation from both sides will be set up to monitor the rehabilitation process and address other grievances," sources said.
All construction activities at the site, which had been progressing on schedule, came to a halt about 10 days ago week after protesters intensified their action over resettlement and compensation demands.
