Maersk: Full operations remain suspended at Durban port
MAERSK operations have been suspended in South Africa's Port of Durban in the aftermath of a severe storm, and continuing heavy rainfall affected harbour conditions.
Said Maersk Line: "Landside operations recommenced for a short period to reduce congestion at Bayhead Road. All truck dispatch should remain halted until otherwise advised."
The port authority Transnet National Port Authority (TNPA) is still assessing safety of resuming vessel operations. Upon confirmation, skeletal operations are expected to recommence.
Contingency plans have been executed for delayed vessel operations and these will be communicated directly with impacted customers, said Maersk.
