CMA CGM responds with surcharge to Gambia Banjul port congestion
PORT congestion in Banjul, Gambia, has prompted French shipping lineCMA CGM to introduce an emergency port congestion surcharge (PCS) to compensate for rising operational costs and service disruptions.
Starting from October 15 (bill of lading date) and until further notice, the PCS to be levied on the following routes are as follows:
From UK to Banjul: GBP150 (US$198) per TEU and GBP220 per FEU; from Europe and Mediterranean (including East Med, Black Sea and North Africa, but excluding Turkey, Egypt, Lebanon and Russia Baltic) to Banjul: EUR170/TEU ($200/TEU) and EUR250/FEU; and from Russia Baltic, Turkey, Egypt and Lebanon to Banjul: $200/TEU and $300/FEU.
Effective from October 22 (B/L date) and until further notice, the PCS to be levied from Asia to Banjul will be: $200/TEU and $300/FEU
The PCS will apply to all cargo types, including dry, reefer, out of gauge (OOG) and breakbulk.
