SIA and Lufthansa start JV between Singapore and Europe
SINGAPORE Airlines and Lufthansa have commenced joint venture on flights between Singapore, Australia and Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Belgium officially from October 1.
From March 2018, flights operated by SIA, Lufthansa and Lufthansa's SWISS airline between Singapore and Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Munich and Zurich will be included in a revenue-sharing agreement between the two airline groups. On the same date, Lufthansa plans to re-introduce services between Singapore and Munich, reported London's Air Cargo News.
Lufthansa and SIA have been strengthening their cooperation since 2015, launching new services between Singapore and Dusseldorf in July 2016. In March 2017, SWISS airline deployed its new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on daily flights between Singapore and Zurich.
Said Singapore Airlines vice president Tan Kai Ping: "This has provided a strong foundation for us to work together to enable more flight frequency".
Said Lufthansa vice president Dieter Vranckx: "With this joint venture, two premium airlines are able to optimise the offerings and high-quality services in a very competitive market."
