MSC orders Kalmar port handling equipment for terminals in S Africa
MEDITERRANEAN Shipping Company (MSC) has placed a new order for fiveKalmar DRT450 reachstackers and two DCT90 empty container handlers for its facilities in South Africa.
Delivery is due to commence in the fourth quarter of this year and continue into Q2 2018.
The new machines will form part of the container shipping line's fleet renewal programme and will be used for processing laden and empty containers at MSC's five terminal locations across South Africa.
Kalmar, part of Cargotec, said the carrier chose its equipment due to the reliable and economic performance of MSC's existing Kalmar machines. Kalmar's local team of technicians also provide MSC with technical support, spare parts and training services.
Director of MSC, Sandra Sarno, commented: "The trustworthy performance of our existing Kalmar machines played a major role in our decision to place this new order. We know that we can always rely on Kalmar equipment to provide cost-efficient operation and world-class reliability."
