Changi's air freight throughput surges 10.7pc in August
SINGAPORE Changi Airport's air freight volume rose by 10.7 per cent year on year in August to 180,590 tonnes, while aircraft movements were up 4.9 per cent to total 31,750 landings and takeoffs.
Passenger traffic in August was supported by growth across all regions, with air travel to and from South Asia, Africa and the Americas expanding by double digits, reported Singapore's STAT Trade Times.
Strong performance was registered for India (+18 per cent), China (+11 per cent) and Malaysia (+11 per cent). Guangzhou, Penang and Taipei were the three fastest growing routes for the month, among the 20 busiest routes.
As at September 1, 100 airlines operate at Changi Airport, connecting Singapore to some 380 cities in 90 countries and territories worldwide.
