DCT Gdansk receives first direct US military armoured brigade to Poland
THE 265-metre-long, roll-on roll-off vehicle carrier 'Endurance of American' berthed at DCT Gdansk terminal on September 12, carrying the first direct deployment of a US military armoured brigade to a Polish port. The shipment totalled 1,000 pieces of equipment.
The vehicles that arrived in Poland include 87 M1 Abrams tanks, 103 Bradley Fighting Vehicles, 18 Paladin self-propelled Howitzers, along with other trucks and equipment, St Peterburg Port News reported.
The military equipment is to be loaded onto 21 trains, each requiring specialist handling and lashing, and 150 trucks. The equipment will then be transported to several military units in Poland within seven to ten days, with some final destinations further afield.
DCT Gdansk is the largest container terminal in the Baltic Sea region with an annual capacity of three million TEU. DCT is able to serve the largest containerships in the world.
