Qatar Cargo's first charter to Rickenbacker flies in Sri Lankan garments
DOHA based Qatar Airways Cargo, in collaboration with Colombo-headquartered Expo Freight, has shipped 100 tonnes of garments from Colombo, Sri Lanka to Rickenbacker International Airport in Colombus, Ohio for L Brands, an Ohio fashion retailer.
The garments were flown on a Boeing 777 freighter, marking the airline's first charter to Rickenbacker International Airport, reported Mumbai's Stat Trade Times.
"This serves as a great example of logistic providers and airlines working together to tailor solutions that benefit supply chain customer,?said Expo Freight chairman Hanif Yusoof.
Said Qatar Airways cargo chief Ulrich Ogiermann: "Sri Lanka apparel and local industries are offered more capacity, quick and efficient connections to key markets in Europe and the Americas via our Doha hub."
Through its twice weekly Airbus A330 freighters and five times daily flights out of Colombo, the cargo carrier offers customers 460 tonnes of cargo capacity from Sri Lanka each week.
