Oakland posts best 2017 month, but August down 3.6pc to 212,692 TEU
THE Port of Oakland posted a 3.6 per cent year on year decline in container throughput to 212,692 TEU in August in what was still the busiest month of the year.
But year to date, the port's volume was up 1,7 per cent year on year with laden import boxes up 3.2 per cent, the port authority said.
The number of vessels visiting Oakland in August compared to the prior year declined 12.7 per cent. That's because shipping lines are transporting more cargo to Oakland on fewer but larger ships.
