Consolidated Chassis Management starts new toll collection scheme
NEW JERSEY's Consolidated Chassis Management (CCM) has announced that it has contracted American Traffic Solutions to make unpaid toll collection less costly starting this month.
There will be a U$5 fee for each toll that the Budd Lake, NJ-based CCM will pass on to the user of the chassis and to the trucker who rented it.
CCM will continue to explore additional areas with ATS including red light, parking and other violations. Please contact info@ccmpool.com for more details.
The current toll process involves pool members being invoiced by tolling authorities and rebilling to CCM, which in turn invoices chassis users and motor carriers for the toll charges.
The new process streamlines the toll procedure as ATS will handle toll charges on chassis contributed into CCM pools. Anytime a toll is not paid, via transponder or licence plate, the toll will be immediately handled by ATS on behalf of CCM, said the company.
"CCM will pay for the tolls on behalf of the contributor and will identify and invoice the appropriate motor carrier on the user's behalf," said CCM chief operations officer Jon Poelma.
"As a chassis pool manager, we do not own chassis; we manage them that are then used by all the same contributors. We needed a way to minimise the administrative burden while eliminating preventable expense," he said.
Mr Poelma said contracting with ATS provides the solution needed to pass on efficiency and savings to all parties involved.
An unpaid toll often consists of the cost of the toll, the charge for violation, late payment charges and administrative and processing costs.
CCM's new toll process eliminates the charge for violation and the possibility of being charged for late payment.
If a transponder and/or tractor license plate is inaccessible or unreadable the chassis licence plate will be read and the chassis user will be rebilled by CCM which will include the charge for the toll and a small administrative fee.
