Delta expands its cold-chain with Envirotainer RAP e2
DELTA Cargo is to invest in expanding its cold-chain offerings for pharma transport, reports New York's Air Cargo World.
The initiative follows Delta Cargo being the first US major carrier to earn IATA's Centre of Excellence for Independent Validators (CEIV) certification for pharmaceutical handling in July.
Today, new container availability offers more flight options to pharmaceutical shippers because there is no longer a reliance of dry ice as a coolant, said Delta.
New RAP e2 containers can be set for any chosen temperature between 0C and 25C and uses electrical heating and compressor cooling systems.
This offers more capacity for goods than earlier Envirotainers, said the report.
Delta Cargo aircraft can also carry other cold-chain containers, including CSafe and the rest of the Envirotainer active container line.
Most recently, the company announced that it has received approval to carry the Envirotainer RAP e2 on its domestic and international widebody aircraft.
