DHL eCommerce in Delhi to tap cross-border on-line shopping
DHL eCommerce, a division of Deutsche Post DHL Group (DPDHL Group), is opening a new distribution centre in Delhi to target "new opportunities in cross border e-commerce for India's e-tailers".
The new facility is part of the DPDHL Group's strategy to invest EUR250 million (US$293.37 million) in India by 2020.
"India is one of the top 10 e-commerce markets and the fastest-growing globally with e-commerce expected to grow 31 per cent a year to reach EUR2 billion by 20201," said DHL eCommerce Asia Pacific chief Malcolm Monteiro.
"India has been identified as a key market for DPDHL Group and we're leveraging our experience and successes globally and customising our services to meet the needs of the India market. We're confident that our new cross-border solutions will provide an added boost to the growing e-commerce industry in India."
The Delhi distribution centre forms a vital component to enable end-to-end logistics for e-commerce, allowing e-tailers to reach out to customers globally and enable quick fulfillment of orders at all times to popular destinations such as the US and Europe.
The establishment of the distribution centre allows DHL eCommerce to provide e-tailers services tailored for the e-commerce industry, such as "Packet" and "Packet Plus" that will enable economical shipments worldwide, and "Parcel International Direct" that offers a transit time of four to seven days for deliveries to the US, the UK and Australia.
E-tailers will be able to enjoy IT integration that will facilitate a click-to-order process, and make reliable transit times, tracking visibility and other features that support customer-centric deliveries for their e-commerce business, possible.
