Fraport reports 4.2pc more Frankfurt cargo volumes in July

FRANKFURT Airport's (FRA) July cargo throughout increased 4.2 per cent year on year in July to 188,009 tonnes, reported airport owner and manager Fraport.

Year to date, total cargo traffic increased 4.7 per cent year on year to 1.3 million tonnes.

The airport's accumulated maximum takeoff weights also increased 1.4 per cent to 2.8 million tonnes, beating the July 2015 record.

Other airports within the Fraport group did not do so well with Lima airport's cargo volume falling three per cent to 2,648 tonnes, though Bulgarian hubs enjoyed more that double the freight in July to 2,257 tonnes. The Ljubljana (LJU) airport in Slovenia reported a 13 per cent increase in July to 947 tonnes.

Among the Fraport equity consolidated airports, Xi'an (XIY) in China rose by 21.5 per cent in July to 20,852 tonnes. Year to date, XIY cargo volumes increased 10.4 per cent to 28,165 tonnes.

But the company's Germany's Hanover (HAJ) airport cargo July volumes fell 4.8 per cent to 915 tonnes, while increasing three per cent year to date.
