I-55 bridge inspections over Des Plaines River to cause lane delays
THE Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will conduct structural bridge inspections on the Interstate 55 over the Des Plaines River, near Channahon, this week and will require daytime lane closures.
To complete the work on a southern approach to Chicago, lane closures will take place on the Interstate 55 bridge over the Des Plaines River. Lane closures will take place Monday to Thursday between 7am and 2pm. The bridge inspections will begin August 7 on southbound I-55 and move to northbound I-55 on August 14.
The inspections are expected to be completed by August 17, weather permitting.
