JNPT's Q1 box throughput up 5pc to 1.2m TEU
INDIA's Jawaharlal Port Trust (JNPT) handled 1.2 million TEU in the first quarter of its 2017-18 financial year, representing a year-on-year increase of 5.11 per cent, with all of its main container terminals recording higher traffic volumes.
In the first quarter, JN Port Container Terminal (JNPCT) handled 401,000 TEU, up 0.5 per cent year on year; APM Terminals handled 499,000 TEU (+14.5 per cent); and DP World Nhava Sheva International Container Terminal (NSICT) handled 134,000 TEU (+14 per cent).
Overall, the port registered a 2.8 per cent increase in the total cargo volume, handling 16.35 million tonnes compared to 15.90 million tonnes in the corresponding period the previous year, The Maritime Standard of Dubai reported.
