Haicang port's H1 cargo traffic grows 20.7pc yoy to 3.12 million TEU
THE Chinese port of Haicang in Xiamen saw first half container throughput rise 20.7 per cent year on year to 3.12 million TEU.
From January to June, import and export volumes totalled 2.49 million TEU, up 21.43 per cent compared to the same period a year earlier. Within this total, imports grew 19.5 per cent to 1.27 million TEU, while exports rose 23.4 per cent to 1.21 million TEU. Domestic trade volumes were up by 4.41 per cent at 632,100 TEU, reported transreporter.
Haicang port covers an area measuring 12.4 square kilometres. The port's expansion plan calls for the development of up to 36 storage facilities capable of handing 10,000 tonnes of cargo. The deep-water port is forecast to handle 90 million tonnes of goods annually.
