TransContainer's H1 volume rises 18.7pc yoy to 860,000 TEU

TRANSCONTAINER's flatcar and container fleet transported 860,000 TEU in the first half of the year, a year-on-year increase of 18.7 per cent, driven by an increase in transit, import and export volumes.

In the first six months of the year, the Russian company's flatcar fleet transported 800,000 TEU, representing an increase of 19.2 per cent year on year, up from 671,000 TEU last year.



During the reporting period, transportation of transit and import cargo registered the highest growth at72.3 per cent and 44.3 per cent, respectively, reported St Petersburg's PortNews.



TransContainer is the leading intermodal container transportation company in Russia with a market share of 47 per cent. As at 31 March, it owned and leased 23,432 flatcars and 68,453 ISO containers.



The company also owns a network of rail-side container terminals, located at 44 railway stations across Russia and operates one terminal in Slovakia under a long-term lease agreement. Its joint venture JSC Kedentransservice also operates 19 inland rail-side terminals in Kazakhstan.
