India busts 17 red sanders smugglers across Nellore district
INDIA's Red Sander Task Force team in Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh has arrested international red sander smuggler, Sadiq Mansoor, and five foreign buyers. The task force has also taken six smugglers into custody in two cases booked at Venkatagiri and Dakkili police stations.
During the operation, police seized 30 red sanders logs weighing 340 kg, a Skoda car, INR26,000 (US$404) and a mobile phone.
District superintendent of police PHD Ramakrishna told reporters that five of the smugglers were arrested while they were transporting the 30 red sanders logs in the Skoda car on the Yathaluru-Srikalahasti road. The police superintendent said that the ring was involved in exporting red sanders illegally from Bengaluru, Chennai and also from Delhi to other countries, reported New Indian Express.

According to Mr Ramakrishna, one of the accused, identified as OU Fushou, "has been exporting red sanders logs illegally to Hong Kong, China and other countries through air cargo from Chennai, Delhi and Bengaluru after testing the quality of red sanders logs".
The police superintendent said that Mr Fushou had been residing in India for the last month to export red sanders logs illegally from Delhi. "Fushou has been exporting the logs to other countries with the help of smugglers from Bengaluru, Chennai and Delhi, informed Mr Ramakrishna.
