Hapag-Lloyd secures US$500 million in Bank of Comunications financing
CHINA's Bank of Communications Financial Leasing (BOCOMFL) is to provide Hapag-Lloyd up to US$500 million to finance the German carrier's fleet expansion that will involve buying both newbuilds and second hands.
The ocean liner operates a fleet of 217 containerships with a total capacity of 1.505 million TEU, the fifth largest in the world, according to Aphaliner.
Hapag-Lloyd completed a merger with UASC in May, and the first UASC services will be transferred to Hapag-Lloyd from mid-July with the rest following soon after, reported Splash 24/7.
