Indian protesters seek China boycott because of north east border dispute

INDIAN protesters have been gathering at Air Cargo Complex at Sahar in Mumbai demanding a boycott of Chinese imports because of a confrontation of troops at the border on the north east frontier, reports Mumbai's Free Press Journal.

Members of the NGO Watchdog Foundation and several citizens said they would urge customs and importers not to clear goods from China.

The protesters also plan to appeal to the government to ban all Chinese goods. The NGO said it will hold another protest on Saturday, where it plans to destroy imported Chinese products.

Last month, Indian troops stopped Chinese workers mending roads in an areas adjoining the mountainous Indian state of Sikkim, Reuters reported.

Chinese and Indian troops confronted each other close to a valley controlled by China that separates India from Bhutan - an Indian ally - and gives China access to the so-called Chicken's Neck, a thin strip of land that connects India to its remote north eastern regions.
