Far East Land Bridge offers direct Budapest-Changsha rail freight service
RAIL operator Far East Land Bridge now offers a 20-day rail freight service between Budapest and the Hunan provincial capital of Changsha, 1,000 kilometres southwest of Shanghai.
The rail freight service in future will handle full container loads with multiple departures per month.
Before the commencement of this route, trains would travel to Poland and transit by truck the remainder of the journey. Included in this route faster options for connections to Slovakia and Austria as well.
The route's fast transit time is due to the train crossing the Chinese border via the Mongolian crossing at Erlian and the Naushki border station to Russia. Then the train follows the Trans-Siberian railway through Ukraine and the border station of Chop/Dobra down to Budapest.
The Dobra border to Slovakia is the southeastern gateway to Europe and is an alternative route to the busy Brest border station.
