AA Cargo opens pharma facility at London Heathrow
AMERICAN Airlines Cargo has opened at its London Heathrow (LHR) cargo centre a new Controlled Room Temperature (CRT) facility to serve the healthcare and pharmaceutical markets.
The 1,700-square foot facility at LHR expands AA Cargo's temperature sensitive capacity 16-fold, reports New York's Air Cargo World.
The London facility provides European connectivity to the airline's US-based pharma network, including its 25,000-square-foot pharmaceutical facility in Philadelphia.
Later this summer, the LHR facility will "be further improved" when more of the pharma storage facility becomes operational, capable of maintaining temperatures between two and eight degrees Celsius, according to regional sales manager for northern Europe, Andy Cornwell.
The airline is the second-largest carrier operating between Heathrow and the United States, with up to 20 daily departures across the Atlantic.
