3-day West African port development conference to be held in Accra

THE three-day Port Development West Africa Conference will be held in Kempinski Hotel, Accra, Ghana from July 17-19 largely to showcase West Africa ports and infrastructure.

During the conference organised by the International Quality and Productivity Centre (IQPC Middle East & Africa), decision makers from government and port authorities will discuss the best possible ways to expedite and execute modernisation plans for West Africa.



Among the speakers will be Paul Asare Ansah, director general, Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority; Eric Tetteh-Addison, deputy director, policy, planning and scheduling, Ministry of Transport, Ghana; Mohammed Samara, CEO, Meridian Port Services, Ghana; Sylvia Asana Owu, deputy chief, Ghana Shippers Authority; Innocent Ogbuji, general manager APM Terminals, Nigeria; Dakuku Peterside, CEO, Nigerian Maritime Administration & Safety Agency and Adamou Saley Abdourahamane, secretary general, Union of African Shippers Councils, Cameroon.



Said IQPC organisers: "Discover how to increase efficiency and capacity through an integrated port development model infrastructure. Gain insights from port project owners on the latest project updates and how intermodal development is rapidly growing to support these projects.



"Discuss with port officials on the latest technological advancements in port security and surveillance that need to be deployed in West Africa with immediate effect," said its release.
