Zim deploys 11,000-TEU vessel on Asia-east coast South America
ZIM is now operating the 11,037-TEU Cape Sounio, the largest vessel currently employed by the Israeli shipping line, on its Asia South America East Coast (ASE) service, in order to meet growing market demands.
Fitted with 1,453 reefer plugs, the containership set sail on its maiden voyage from Pusan, South Korea, on May 4, on its regular route calling at ports in Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina, connecting to major Asian ports.
ZIM's Asia East Coast South America service caters for the growing trade between South Korea, China and Southeast Asia, via Singapore and the hub in Port Kelang, to major South America east coast ports. ASE offers a weekly, fixed-day service with excellent transit times, high schedule integrity and dedicated customer service, reported AJOT.
Built in the Hyundai Heavy Industries' shipyard in the Philippines and delivered in April, the Cape Sounio is the biggest containership to serve in this route.
