China-Myanmar border trade falls to US$797 million in first 5 months
THE volume of trade between Myanmar and China contracted to US$797 million through to May 16, after trade volumes decreased at key border trade camps, data published by the Trade Department shows.
The total trade volume at the Muse, Lwegal, Chinshwehaw, Kanpiketi and Kengtung border trade zones was down $59.7 million compared to the same period last year, reported Eleven Media Group.
Myanmar has established 16 border trade camps: Muse, Lweje, Kanpiketee, Chinshwehaw, Tamu, Reed, Myawaddy, Tachilek, Kengtung, Kawthaung, Myeik, Hteekhee, Mawtaung, Sittwe, Maungdaw and Mase.
Myanmar has signed border trade deals with India, Thailand, China and Bangladesh.
