UPS opens new facility in Colombia to tap healthcare industry
UPS has established a new healthcare-dedicated facility in Colombia to serve Latin America's expanding pharmaceutical, biopharma and medical device industry.
The 76,000-square-foot multi-client facility offers distribution services, warehouse management, and late-stage customisation solutions, including labelling, product kitting and configuration, and repackaging, reported American Shipper.
The Atlanta-based parcel giant also intends to invest US$180 million to set up a new package processing hub in Goodyear, Arizona. This facility is expected to be completed in late 2019, and is likely to create 1,500 jobs in the area.
"A portion of the building is expected to begin operating later this year in time for the busy holiday season to provide additional processing and efficient automated sorting capacity for lightweight small packages typical of e-commerce that are moving throughout Arizona and the Southwest," UPS was cited as saying.
