UPS increases Spanish air cargo capacity to Germany
UPS is increasing its air cargo capacity from the Spanish cities of Vitoria and Seville to its European air hub in Cologne, Germany with new flights that will allow the parcel carrier to offer later pick-up times for export shipments in northern and southern Spain.
Starting last Mondy (June 5), Vitoria and Seville will be connected to UPS's European air hub in Cologne by a 737-400 jet with a payload of 20 tonnes. The aircraft will leave Seville each business day and fly to Cologne with a stop in Vitoria, returning to Seville via Vitoria in the morning.
This new flight will complement UPS's existing flights to Cologne from Barcelona, Madrid, and Valencia. From UPS's hub in Cologne, 41 flights connect businesses in Spain with their customers in Europe and the rest of the world.
According to UPS: "As a result of the new flight, UPS customers in the north and south of Spain will now benefit from later pick-up times, and 85 per cent of the Spanish population can benefit from having their packages exported on the same day they are picked up. UPS is now offering customers up to four-and-a-half hours of additional production time with pick-up times as late as 19:00 for UPS Express shipments, the company said in a statement.
