Hong Kong Airport re-opens after plane skids off rainy runway
HONG KONG International Airport has reopened a runway that was closed temporarily after a China Eastern jet skidded off the runway while landing in heavy rain on May 24.
Two passengers reported feeling unwell and were sent to hospital for a check-up.
Operations on the north runway were restored at 12:40pm, the airport said in a statement. The disabled aircraft, carrying 141 passengers and crew, blocked runway after the incident, according to comments made by Cathay Pacific Airways.
Two passengers aboard China Eastern's flight MU765 complained of discomfort and were sent to hospital.
The bad weather delayed 100 flights on Wednesday. Flight operations at Cathay now remain normal, and good weather is forecast for the weekend.
