DHL doubles size of Brussels pharma facility to 5,300 square metres

DHL Global Forwarding Belgium has more than doubled the size of its temperature controlled facilities at Brussels Airport to 5,300 square metres.

The warehouse will offer a total of 2,700 pallet positions split over three temperature zones, the largest being for goods to be handled between +15 to +25 degrees.

"We have seen a growing demand for pharmaceutical goods and devices which previously were handled as general cargo but now demand a strict temperature handling," said DHL Belgium physical operations director Charles De Vuyst.

"We needed to respond quickly. We are proud we managed to build this extension in only three months while ensuring business continuity," he said, reported London's Air Cargo News.

The facility also allows in-house screening through X-ray, ensuring cargo is secured without additional external handling. The extension is now under process of licensing by the official health authorities.

DHL Global Forwarding is IATA-CEIV certified, operates as Regulated Agent and has AEO/TAPA accreditations.
