INTTRA sees three techno trends converging on world box shipping
THREE technological trends will soon converge to provide ocean container shipping what will amount to a great leap forward, according to a study by INTTRA, the interactive booking and shipping instruction website.
The first, according to Blueprint 2032, will be network integration across systems, applications and partners: Technology such as Blockchain to simplify transactions and reduce costs.
Next will be real-time status reports of containers and cargo: Tracking devices connected by the "Internet of Things" driving greater efficiencies and improving shipment planning.
And finally, artificial intelligence to transition from big data to more accessible business analytics that will suggest higher probability outcomes.
Said INTTRA CEO John Fay: "Digitisation is now a competitive necessity. We enable shippers to rethink processes and digitise as a neutral service provider."
Said INTTRA president Inna Kuznetsova: "A neutral digital network is the next step. Connecting a network with technology such as Blockchain will lead to an expansion of analytics to trigger breakthroughs in cost reduction."
INTTRA connects 225,000 shipping professionals worldwide with 50 carriers to streamline trading handling 700,000 container orders a week, representing 25 per cent world's ocean container trade.
