GAC Samudera Logistics to open multi-user, pharma hub in Indonesia
GAC Samudera Logistics' Cikarang distribution centre in the industrial zone adjacent to Cikarang dry port will be a multi-user temperature-controlled facility opening in July to cater to Indonesia's fast-growing pharma sector.
With a capacity of 20,000 pallet positions and a temperature range of 18 to 25 degrees Celsius, the new facility will boast a single selective racking system, electrically-operated equipment, 200 lux LED lighting, a suspended floor to keep moisture and termites away, a truck parking space, drivers' waiting room, and a raised dock and moveable dock levellers to facilitate loading and unloading activities.
An air-conditioned re-packing area that meets with good manufacturing practice (GMP) standards lies adjacent to the main facility and will support the provision of value-added services, while a dedicated sampling room will allow sampling to take place with no risk of contamination, a company said.
Company president Hari Krishnan said the establishment of this pharma-grade facility meets the continuous growth of the sector, driven by increased government healthcare spending, rising income and increased foreign investment.
Said GAC vice president Lars Bergstrom: "Combining the experience, resources and capabilities of the two companies, GAC Samudera Logistics has revolutionised the 3PL scene in Indonesia, and brought new innovations and advanced systems and technologies into the sector.
