Yusen Logistics deploys CargoSmart's ocean freight route planner
JAPAN's Yusen Logistics Co Ltd has started using a shipment management software tool provided by CargoSmart Ltd, in order to gain insights to optimise ocean route planning for its customers.
Branded Route Master, Yusen Logistics will use its system to work out the best routing options to "prepare for carrier contract negotiations, make shipment plan recommendations to its customers, and establish routing guides for its internal teams based on the insights", a joint company statement said.
Introduced this March, the Route Master tool is designed to provide Yusen Logistics with information about port pairs and service details to match its clients' needs and prepare for contracting with its carriers.
Route Master helps shippers and logistics firms compare shipping lines" routes, transit times, vessel operators, and reliability. Route Master covers 830 ports and 3,800-container shipping offered by 29 ocean carriers.
CargoSmart's chief commercial officer, Lionel Louie, added: "We are pleased that Yusen Logistics is able to extract insights to help it deliver more value-added services to its customers."
