Luxembourg airport's January-April cargo up 16pc to 286,000 tonnes
LUXEMBOURG airport's freight volume rose between January and April by 16.4 per cent year on year to 286,000 tonnes.
In March and April alone, the airport recorded growth rates of 22.1 per cent and 19.4 per cent, respectively. To cope with this increase, the construction of the four new cargo aircraft stands capable of accommodating Boeing 747-8 freighters has commenced. One stand is specially designed for the Antonov 124 aircraft.
The first two stands will be available from April 2018 and the remainder in October. This new apron extension will be equipped with a hydrant refueling system allowing faster and safer fuelling of air freighters.
