DHL quarterly profit up 0.3pc to US$732 million, all business segments up
DEUTSCHE Post DHL Group's first quarter consolidated net profit rose by 0.3 per cent year on year of EUR673 million (US$731.6 million) drawn on revenue of EUR14.9 billion, up 7.3 per cent.
Revenue from DP DHL's Post and eCommerce-Parcel division was up 6.4 per cent year on year to EUR4.5 billion, with growth originating primarily in the eCommerce-Parcel business, while the Express division achieved revenue of EUR3.6 billion, up 13 per cent, reported American Shipper.
"We recorded positive currency effects of EUR24 million," DP DHL said. "Excluding these effects, revenue growth was 12.3 per cent. This also reflects the fact that fuel surcharges were higher in all regions as the price of crude oil increased compared with the previous year."
DP DHL's Global Forwarding and Freight Division recorded revenue of EUR3.5 billion, up 6.6 per cent year on year. Air freight volumes jumped 13.9 per cent, driven by new business wins, while ocean freight volumes rose 6.4 per cent, driven by growth on the Asia-Europe trade lanes and supported by growth in the transpacific market.
The company's Supply Chain division's revenues were up 3.8 per cent to EUR3.5 billion for the quarter, on the back of dynamic business performance across all regions, which was partly offset by negative currency effects.
