Kerry Logistics to buy major stake in Italy's Tuvia Group
HONG Kong's Kerry Logistics plans to purchase a majority shareholding in Milan-headquartered Tuvia, a group that is active in air, sea, land and multimodal shipping, as well as integrated logistics, in Italy.
Tuvia has offices in Verona, Venice, Trieste, and Nerviano, and manages 25,000 sqm of logistics space. As an ISO9001 certified company, it is also an Authorised Economic Operator (AEO), a certified International Air Transport Association (IATA) agent, and a member of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Association (FIATA).
Tuvia Italia will be integrated into Kerry Logistics' European network and continue to be led by its existing management team including managing director, Alessandro Canese, who was quoted as saying in a report by London's Air Cargo News: "We look forward to being part of the Kerry Logistics global family and to working on the successful growth of the European network."
Over the past six months, Kerry has made acquisitions in Spain and Germany, and opened a new office in Warsaw, Poland.
Managing director of Europe, Kerry, Thomas Blank, added: "We have been striving to build our presence in Italy over the years and we are glad to have Tuvia joining our global network. We will continue to strengthen our coverage in Europe to ensure we deliver comprehensive logistics services globally with local knowledge.
"Kerry Logistics' existing Italian client base will benefit from Tuvia's expertise and full range of services. We will further develop our offering in the region and enhance our freight forwarding capabilities in providing innovative solutions to meet the ever-changing business needs of our clients."
