Fleet of narrow-body freighters said to grow by 2036
THE global fleet of narrow-body freighters is expected to number 1,178 aircraft by 2036, up from 656 at the end of last year, according to the 20-year Freighter Forecast for 2017-2036 unveiled by air cargo consultancy ACMG at the sixth-annual Cargo Facts Asia conference.
By 2036, the report stated, narrow-body freighters will account for 43 per cent of the total global fleet of 2,341 aircraft, up from a 40 per cent share at present, reported New York's Air Cargo World.
"The robust activity in freighter conversion of narrow-body types over the past four years has led to an increase in the quantity of narrow-body freighters in the global fleet," said ACMG managing director Robert Dahl.
"This increase reverses a trend that began in 2000 through which the narrowbody freighter fleet decreased 40 per cent over a decade-long period."
