Singapore container volume climbs 6.7pc in March
THE port of Singapore handled 2.7 million TEU in March, representing an increase of 6.7 per cent compared to 2.5 million TEU recorded in March 2015, according to figures from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
Last month's throughput also jumped by 17 per cent compared to 2.3 million TEU in February this year.
In the first quarter of 2017, Singapore port handled a total throughput of 7.6 million TEU, a hike of 3 per cent compared to 7.4 million TEU moved in the same period of 2016, the Seatrade Maritime News of Colchester, UK, reported.
