APL starts USWC-Jakarta direct Pendulum Loop (PE1) service
APL has launched its Pendulum Loop 1 (PE1) service that sails direct for the US west coast from Jakarta, Indonesia, as part of the Ocean Alliance service network.
"We are confident that the PE1 service will be a compelling alternative to transshipment which Indonesia relies on for shipments to the US and vice versa. Combining direct connectivity and best-in-class transit, the PE1 service has just risen the bar for swift market access, particularly for Indonesian exporters," said APL CEO, Nicolas Sartini.
The PE1 service offers a transit time of 23 days from Jakarta to Los Angeles. The service makes weekly calls at: Port Klang, Singapore, Jakarta, Laem Chabang, Cai Mep, Los Angeles, Oakland, Hong Kong, Colombo, Halifax, New York, Norfolk and Savannah.
Accounting for 16 per cent of the outbound volumes from Indonesia to the US in 2016, the carrier said it is the top shipping line serving the Indonesia-US trade. Including the PE1 service, APL offers ten other services bound for the global market via the transshipment hub of Singapore.
